Luis Suarez is planning to retire to Barcelona once his playing career comes to an end.
The 38-year-old striker is currently playing in his second season for MLS side Inter Miami alongside former Barca teammates Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba.

Busquets and Alba plan to retire at the conclusion of the 2025 MLS Cup playoffs. It’s unclear how much longer Suarez will continue playing.
Inter Miami president Jorge Mas recently addressed the possibility of Suarez joining Alba and Busquets in retirement after the 2025 season concludes.
“It depends on him if he stays,” Mas said in October. “Luis Suárez has the heart of a footballer. He gives everything, but his knees are catching up with him. His problem isn’t emotional — it’s physical.”

Retirement appears to be on Suarez’s mind. He plans to return to his home in Barcelona with his wife, Sofia, and children Delfina, Benjamin and Lautaro.
“Are we still following Barca? Yes, always, constantly, my children too, because one does not stop being a fan or stop caring for the club,” Suarez told Diario SPORT.
“We’re also still having contact with people from the club. We still have a house there. Our idea is to return to Barcelona after everything. We have it all set for everything we got, and because we always feel at home there.”

Retirement Isn’t Far Away for ‘El Pistolero’

Suarez scored 198 goals in 283 appearances across all competitions for Barcelona. The temperamental Uruguayan joined Inter Miami ahead of the 2024 MLS season.
Previously, “El Pistolero” played for Nacional, Groningen, Ajax, Liverpool, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid and Gremio.
It appears that Inter Miami is most likely Suarez’s final club, given his partnership and friendship with Messi, combined with his chronic knee issues.

Suarez made 143 appearances for the Uruguay national team, scoring 69 goals. He retired from international duty in Sept. 2024.
Inter Miami will travel to TQL Stadium for Sunday’s Eastern Conference semifinal match against FC Cincinnati. The match kicks off at 5 p.m. Eastern Time.
