Mutual funds have generally been fading in popularity while ETFs have been ascending. But financial advisors typically see pros and cons for both of them. We asked investment advisors how they integrate them into portfolios and found they deploy a range of strategies. One advisor explains he mostly uses ETFs for flexibility, but uses mutual funds in specific categories, like bank loans and international stocks, and with small accounts.
