Syracuse, N.Y. – United Auto Supply is investing $19.3 million to expand its distribution operations in Geddes, a project the company says will create 65 jobs.
The auto parts distributor and retailer has applied to the Onondaga County Industrial Development Agency for $1.5 million in tax breaks for the expansion at 1200 State Fair Blvd.
United Auto Supply bought the former P&C grocery distribution center for nearly $10 million in 2016 and named it Ranalli Industrial Park.
It occupies 308,000 square feet of the facility’s 567,000 square feet of space. The company leases the remaining 259,000 square feet to the WB Mason office supply company.
WB Mason is relocating to Buckley Road in Clay. United Auto plans to take over that space after spending $19.3 million on mechanical, electrical, structural and fire protection upgrades.
The auto parts company said the expansion will create 65 new jobs at the facility. It currently employs 433 at the site, according to its application to the county development agency.
The company is seeking $1.4 million in exemptions from sales taxes on construction materials and a $112,500 exemption from the state mortgage recording tax.
Without the requested benefits, the project would not be undertaken at this time, the company said.
Founded in 1946 by James P. “Jim” Ranalli Sr., the Syracuse-based company employs 1,200 people in 34 locations in New York, Pennsylvania and Ohio.
The family-owned company sells original equipment, aftermarket automotive parts and accessories to independent installers, new-car dealers, municipalities, heavy duty fleets and auto parts stores.
