Stock market update: Nifty Auto index advances 0.36%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Auto index closed on a positive note on Friday.

Shares of TVS Motor Company(up 2.43 per cent), Tata Motors(up 2.08 per cent), Bharat Forge(up 1.55 per cent), TIINDIA(up 1.45 per cent) and Samvardhana Motherson International(up 1.13 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Ashok Leyland(down 1.01 per cent), Eicher Motors(down 0.77 per cent), Mahindra & Mahindra(down 0.49 per cent), Sona BLW Precision Forgings(down 0.45 per cent) and Bajaj Auto(down 0.37 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty Auto index closed 0.36 per cent up at 13235.05.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 36.95 points at 17856.5, while the BSE Sensex stood down 123.52 points at 60682.7.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 25 ended in the green, while 25 closed in the red.

Shares of Zomato Ltd., YES Bank, , and Tata Steel were among the most traded shares on the NSE. Shares of , , , and hit their fresh 52-week highs in today’s trade, while Mangalam Global Ent, Megasoft, , Lux Ind. and hit their fresh 52-week lows.
