… to expand agro export, support local farmers, create 300 jobs
Agventure Commodities Ltd, a leading player in the agro-export industry,
has inaugurated a state-of-the-art Sesame Hulling Plant in Kano to expand agro export, support local farmers and generate over 200 direct and 100 indirect jobs for the local community.
The General Manager, Sheeju Prabhakaran, disclosed this during the grand opening event held in Kano on Monday which attracted scores of industry leaders, local officials as well as key stakeholders.
In an address, Prabhakaran said: “Our new facility in Kano is built to enhance production capacity, boost export potential and drive sustainable growth in the Agro Sector.”
He added: “The facility has been built to comply with international standards for food manufacturing and utilize state-of-the-art technologies, including dry hulling and color sorting.”
According to him, a full quality assurance programme had been implemented and extensive training and monitoring programmes are in place to ensure that products comply with stringent quality standards, providing full traceability from the farm through production and delivery.
Prabhakaran stressed that the facility, which officially opened its doors on November 18, 2024, was set to revolutionize the company’s production capabilities and strengthen its position in the global sesame market.
“We are thrilled to launch this new facility, which aligns with our long-term mission to deliver the finest quality sesame seeds to our global clients,” he said.
“This investment not only enhances our export capabilities but also creates new opportunities for local farmers by providing a stable market for their produce,” he stressed.
He added that in line with Agventure’s dedication to sustainable practices, the sesame hulling plant incorporates eco-friendly technologies to minimize environmental impact.
According to him, the facility features energy-efficient machinery, water recycling systems and waste management protocols to reduce its carbon footprint.
While highlighting the company’s past achievements, the Treasury Director of the Company, Mr. Derek Olokor, said:
“We believe that innovation and sustainability go hand in hand. Our new plant is a testament to our efforts to adopt responsible production practices while supporting the livelihoods of farmers in the region.”
Mr. Hareesh Nair, the Operation manager took guests through the process and felicitated the guests.
Distinguished guests at the grand opening included the Managing Director (MD) of Nexim who was represented by Alhaji Nairu Inuwa, the Head of NEXIM Kano Region, representatives of MAN, NEPC as well as government officials.
Finance institutions such as Zenith Bank, Globus Bank, UBA, Union Bank and Unity Bank were also represented by their officials.
The event featured a ribbon-cutting ceremony, plant tour and insightful presentations highlighting the plant’s advanced technology and commitment to sustainable agriculture.
The Sesame Hulling plant represents a significant milestone for Agventure Commodities Ltd, as it is poised to increase the company’s sesame seed processing capacity by 7,000 Mts per year.
Equipped with cutting-edge technology, the plant will enable efficient and high-quality sesame hulling, meeting the growing demand for premium hulled sesame seeds in international markets such as USA, Europe and Asia.
